PID - Control Design for Power Station Processes Based on Time-Delay Compensation - Smith Predictor

چکیده

Abstract: This paper presents a new method for a PID-control design in which the PID-control loop is represented as an equivalent one to a control loop operating with an optimized PI-controller and a Smith predictor. It requires the nearest approximation of the power plant process description and the dead-time transfer function. The presented method is based on the PID-controller transfer function identification, which approximately describes dynamical properties of the optimal PI-controller with the Smith predictor. The tuning of PID controllers implemented on power plant processes of the Israel Electric Corporation (IEC) provides sufficiently good settings of these controller parameters and exemplifies industrial application of this approach.
